SOMA, sitio web, 27 septiembre 2017: (Maris Bustamante was born and is currently based in Mexico City. Maris studied at the Esmeralda, one of the two most important national art schools. Nevertheless, she began to paint when I she was 4 years old, and had a very academic art education, working in all fields and techniques (painting, drawing, sculpture, engravings, murals). She began to explore her preferred conceptual platform in the ´70s when she started producing artistic concepts and objects, participating in the Groups Movement in México City. She worked with the group NO GRUPO since its foundation in 1979 until its disappearance 6 years later. Maris Bustamante (Ciudad de México, 20 de noviembre de 1949) es una artista visual, profesora, escritora e investigadora mexicana. Destacada por su actividad en el performance y por ser miembro fundador de los colectivos artísticos No-grupo y Polvo de gallina negra, pionera en México del arte feminista.
